A/Prof Patrick Mahar is a specialist dermatologist, who is educated and experienced in medicine, business and law. He is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, the Australasian College of Legal Medicine and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

He completed his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery simultaneously with his Bachelor of Laws from Monash University. He then completed his Master of Business Administration at the Melbourne Business School, alongside a Doctor of Philosophy with Deakin University and a Doctor of Medical Science with The University of Melbourne whilst simultaneously specialty training in dermatology. In 2014, whilst a dermatology trainee, he was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia in part for contributions to patient safety.

A/Prof Mahar has served in Executive and Non-Executive Director roles both locally and internationally within a variety of industrial sectors including pharmaceuticals, non-for-profit healthcare provision and medical indemnity.

His clinical interests involve the use of advanced targeted treatments for the therapeutic management of inflammatory skin disease.
