Wills and bequests
A Bequest or Gift in Will to the Skin Health Institute will make a real difference to the lives of Australians facing skin cancer, melanoma or skin disorders. It is an extraordinary act of generosity that will provide ongoing support for outstanding patient treatment, ground-breaking research and furthering the education and training of doctors and registrars.
Your gift will have a positive and long-lasting effect and will leave a true legacy in your name.
Gifts in Wills have a significant impact on the work we do, helping fund our world class research and to educate doctors, registrars and healthcare workers to create expertise in dermatology and patient treatment and care.
Help us continue our life changing work.
Making a bequest in your Will is very simple, and very rewarding
If you already have a Will, then all you need to do is add a codicil. This is a supplement to the Will that puts into force your decision to make a bequest to the Skin Health Institute.
While there are many ways to leave a gift in your Will, the most common are:
- A residuary gift; this amounts to whatever remains in your estate after your loved ones have been taken care of.
- A pecuniary gift; this allows you to leave a fixed amount of money from your estate to the Skin Health Institute.
- A percentage; allows you to leave a nominated percentage of your estate to the Skin Health Institute.

LEASE TAKE THIS TO YOUR SOLICITOR for the inclusion of the bequest in your Will.
The words that you could use could be:
“I give and bequeath to the Skin Health Institute, for its exclusive use, (specific percentage of my estate), or (a specific sum), or (specified items), or (the residue of my estate), free of all duties, taxes or deductions, and a receipt from an authorised officer of the Skin Health Institute shall be a complete and sufficient discharge of the Executor(s) for this bequest.”
YOUR WILL MUST BE SIGNED IN THE PRESENCE OF TWO WITNESSES, WHO MUST ALSO SIGN IN THE PRESENCE OF EACH OTHER, but your solicitor will make all the necessary arrangements for you.
Your solicitor might also want the following information about the Skin Health Institute:
ABN 58 895 584 259
Address: Level 1, 80 Drummond Street, Carlton, Victoria 3053
Tel: (03) 9623 9400; Fax: (03) 9639 3575
The Institute is registered as a deductible gift recipient (DGR) and is endorsed for charity tax concessions (CTC), by the Australian Taxation Office.
A codicil is an amendment to your existing Will and becomes part of your Will.
Please take this form of Codicil to your solicitor who will discuss it with you and engross it into a Codicil which accords with all necessary legal requirements.
