Dr Michael Rich is a Specialist Dermatologist/Cosmetic Dermatologist, Cosmetic Surgeon and Director of Medicine.  

He attended Melbourne High School before entering Monash University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. After completing his residency and working as a Clinical Supervisor at the Austin Repatriation, he entered training for dermatology and graduated from the Australasian College of Dermatology in 1977.  

Dr Rich was the founding President of the Skin Health Institute of Victoria, a centre of excellence now closely affiliated with the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital. The Skin Health Institute is a tertiary dermatological training centre, which Dr Rich regularly attends. He is responsible for the ongoing training of doctors and holds an honorary position of Consultant Dermatologist. He regularly sees patients who attend the clinic who otherwise would not have access to these services. 

Other professional accomplishments include: Founding Member the Skin Health Institute, which now has over 30 specialties and tertiary clinics; President of the Victorian Faculty of the British Association of Dermatologists in the last term before it integrated with the Australian College of Dermatologists; and a Founding Member of the Melbourne Laser Clinic. 

Dr Michael Rich has spent time in America learning the skills involved in tumescent liposuction from the procedure’s founders, Dr Jeffrey Klein and Dr William Coleman. He regularly attends conferences and seminars to update skills and also attends the World Liposuction Conference, which includes “hands-on” workshops. 

He is a member of the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Liposuction Surgery and is one of the founding members of the Australian division of the International Society of Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons.
