This session will explore how the guidelines translate into real-world clinical practice, with insights on treatment decisions, patient stratification, and common management challenges.
The masteclass will be hosted by A/Prof Peter Foley and will include time for discussion and Q&A.
Designed for dermatologists, this session offers practical, experience-based guidance on applying HS guidelines to improve patient outcomes.

Prof Falk Bechara
Professor Falk G. Bechara is the Deputy Director of the Department of Dermatology and Head of the Department of Dermatologic Surgery at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany.
He is the Past-President of the German Society of Dermatologic Surgery (DGDC) and coordinating the Skin Cancer Center of the Ruhr-University Bochum with focus on reconstructive dermatologic surgery.
Prof. Bechara is also leading the Clinical Study Center for inflammatory skin diseases at the Ruhr-University Bochum and was a Board Member of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS).
In 2008 Prof. Bechara founded the Hidradenitis suppurativa / Acne inversa Center in Bochum, which has become one of the largest in Europe, with a focus on serious cases with demanding surgical challenges.
In 2020 the Bochum Hidradenitis suppurativa center was expended to the “International Center for Hidradenitis suppurativa / Acne inversa (ICH)”, reflecting the diverse international cooperations with different HS centers and the increased number of international patients seeking the highest medical and surgical care for their disease.

A/Prof Peter Foley
Associate Professor Peter Foley is the Director of Research at the Skin Health Institute and the Head of Dermatology Research at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor, Department of Medicine at The University of Melbourne. He is a visiting medical officer to the Photobiology, Dermatology Biologics, and Dermatology Investigation clinics at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the Phototherapy, Atopic Dermatitis, and Psoriasis Advanced Targeted Therapies clinics at the Skin Health Institute.
He has been an investigator in over 170 clinical trials and has over 170 published manuscripts.
Associate Professor Foley is Australia’s only councilor on the International Psoriasis Council (IPC), is a founding member of the Australasian Psoriasis Collaboration, is co-convener of the Australasian Dermatology Registry, is co-convenor, Australian Psoriasis Treatment Goals, is chair of the steering committee for the Pillars of Dermatology Practice Symposium, is a former steering committee member of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA).
