
Siba Diqer
Siba Diqer is a lawyer with over a decade of experience advising and representing corporates, financial institutions, and insolvency practitioners at top tier international law firms in Australia and overseas. Additionally, Siba has spent over six years working as an investment manager at a listed litigation funder.
As a person living with type 1 diabetes, Siba is a passionate advocate in the health sector. Siba recently gave evidence before the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport Inquiry into Diabetes and will be attending Parliament House in November to meet with MPs and Senators to advocate for funding of the JDRF Clinical Research Network. Siba appeared on the front page of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Impact Report this year and was featured on channel nine news last year when she commenced a medical trial of an artificial pancreas system. Siba also assisted Diabetes Victoria in designing and delivering the Making Sense Program, a program to teach participants how to interpret the data from their glucose sensing device to proactively manage their illness.
Siba has spent two decades utilising her legal skills to assist the not-for-profit sector, including as a volunteer at Binarri-binyja yarrawoo Aboriginal Corporation where she assisted in setting up the corporate governance framework, a volunteer at JusticeConnect where she provided advice and representation at the homeless persons legal clinic, and drafting submissions on behalf of Women's Legal Service Victoria to the Royal Commission into Family Violence on economic abuse and economic recovery of family violence victims.
Siba is a non-executive director of StreetSmart Australia, a not-for-profit raising funds and awareness to bring about change for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. She is a committee member of the Law Council of Australia Restructuring and Insolvency Committee, and a committee member of the Turnaround Management Association and its Network of Women subcommittee.
Siba holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Science (majoring in Psychology), a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Excellence), an ARITA Advanced Certification in Insolvency (Distinction) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
