Dr Alana Tuxen

Dr Alana Tuxen (she/her) is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and has been a specialist for over 10 years. She completed her dermatology specialty training in 2011 and was awarded as the top graduate in Australia.

Dr Tuxen is a general medical dermatologist and provides treatment for people of all ages and all skin types. She attends specialty clinics and holds public hospital appointments at Monash Health in Clayton and the Skin Health Institute. Alana is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Tuxen studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and was the top graduate of The Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinical School in 2004 where she was awarded several academic prizes. She also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science, a laboratory-based medical research degree, and a Diploma of Surgical Anatomy.

After commencing training as a specialist dermatologist, Alana worked in a variety of clinical settings, including paediatric dermatology at the Royal Children’s Hospital, complex medical dermatology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, cancer dermatology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and subspecialty and surgical dermatology at the Skin Health Institute.

In 2012, Alana began private practice at Male St Specialist Rooms in Brighton and Barker’s Road Dermatology in Kew. She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at Monash Health where she continues to see adults and children with skin problems.
