Associate Professor Anne Howard has been a dermatologist since 1987 and is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. She was the first female chairman of the Victorian faculty and during that time doubled the number of training positions in Dermatology through liaising with state government officials.

She was on the then Board of Censors from 1995-1999 and in 2005, became the first female president of the College. She was Head of Dermatology at Western Hospital from 1990 to 2020 and ran the Vulval Dermatology clinic at the Mercy Hospital and then the Royal Women’s Hospital until 2019.

She has been a consultant dermatologist at the Children’s Hospital for many years and is still a consultant dermatologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She has been running a monthly Nail clinic at the Skin Health Institute (previously called the Skin and Cancer Foundation) for around 30 years, the only such service in Australia.
